When conservatives say that liberals disrespect authority, they seem to mean that liberals will criticize authority for exercising too much power. They (conservatives) don't have a problem with criticism of authority for being too reserved or too tolerant or too indulgent of differences. As I am wont to point out, <b>both</b> Jerry Fallwell and Susan Sontag blamed America for 9/11, but only Ms Sontag was considered unpatriotic for doing so.
